Experts say there are many hundreds of terrapins within the UK's waterways.
The invasion has been linked to the 1980's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle
cartoon, which promoted many people to buy these animals as pets.

In the beginning of May 2005, we have already taken in hubdreds of Terrapins
or 'Sliders. Some came from local canals and others by
responsible owners wanting the best for their pets.

In spring 2006 we built a terrapin outdoor enclosure for these wonderful
creatures. This way we are doing our part for conservation within the waterways,
looking after our chelonial friends and providing a FREE service to the public.



















How Can You Help?
If your looking for a turtle as a pet, think before you buy. Study which species you want as these
creatures can live up to 40 years plus. One of the smallest of turtles and so cute is a Musk Turtle, maybe
well worth considering. ;-)

If you have a large garden then why not build a pond for some terrapins? There
are many that require new homes with such enclosures. You will have many
years of enjoyment watching these fascinating animals.
